Are You Happy As a Start-Up Entrepreneur?

If you don’t drive your business, you will be driven out of business. All you need to do is maintain the right balance between your body and mind.

Business is not only about making money and growing your resources from 5 to 500. Succeeding in business means satisfaction and happiness. As a start-up, it is important to evaluate your progress and the best way of that is to measure your happiness and inner peace.

Yes, sounds weird, but true!

Doing business involves dealing with problems and new challenges, each day. It’s like a chain of problems, when one problem is resolved, you move on to the next, and so on. If you want to be the best entrepreneur you can be, you need to maintain a balance in your work and life. And, happiness is a key component.

Jack Ma, founder and chairman of Alibaba Group says, “I try to make myself happy, no, because I know that if I’m not happy, my colleagues are not happy, and my shareholders are not happy, and my customers are not happy.”

So, here are 5 reasons that could be holding you back from feeling happy.

1. No Time Flow

Time plays a big role in any business, for obvious reasons, and so is the time flow. But, what actually does flow mean? Flow is a mental state where you are deeply focused on the task at hand, your awareness of time passing has slipped. In other words, you’re “in the zone.” The more time you spend in flow, the more satisfied you will feel, and satisfaction is a key component of happiness.

2. Feeling Stressful

Stress sucks, isn’t it! Unfortunately, it has become an unavoidable part of life for just about every human. However, having too much stress can curb your happiness. To succeed and feel good as an entrepreneur, you need to combat your stress. And trust us, it’s not any difficult. You just need to make the decision to prevent yourself from stressful situations, which could mean anything from quitting a burdensome job, or ending a relationship. Try to find out what’s causing you excessive stress, and fight it out.

3. Things aren’t under your Control

Being in control of your life is important for being happiness. This is why we all strive for independence; it makes us feel like out life is ours and we can do what we wish. When you lose control or surrender your life to others, unhappiness is left behind.
The important question here is how do you gain more control of your life? It’s very simple actually. Simply, list out the things that are actually in your control completely and also those things you don’t yet control but you could with some effort. Soon you’ll realise that you’ve enough power than you believe.

4. You Lack Novelty

Don;t you feel happy when you buy something new, be it a new shirt or a new gadget or simply a new daily regime. Having or trying new things play a role in your happiness. This is because your brain craves variety. If your life is stuck in a rut with no variety, it’s going to be extremely hard to feel happy.
So, the easiest way to conquer this is to add just one new thing each day. It could be anything from switching up what you eat for breakfast, walking to work instead of driving, or stop doing something you wouldn’t normally do. Try this out today!

5. You Aren’t Confident Enough

Drive your life with confidence or you’ll end up crying in whatever you do. Asses yourself whether you are a glass-half-full, or a glass-half-empty sort of person. If you’re optimistic, you have a better chance to succeed as it’ll help you guide through rough times. Train yourself to find positives in every negative, and you’ll find benefits from that in all walks of life.
